Welcome
Hello and welcome to my gaming blog. My name is Greg Wollf and I am a Christian gamer. I intend to use this blog as a place to write and reflect about my favorite pass time. I hold a masters degree in systematic theology so things will often get theological, but that's part of the fun! I am a child of the 80s and so I grew up with video games and they have grown up with me. I remember all the way back to the Commodore 64 and Intellivision and have hit most everything in between. My focus is PC gaming, but I still keep tabs on the console world.
I like to think that my gaming tastes are perhaps and bit refined. I appreciate quality and solid mechanics. I can dominate when playing FPS but I have found myself getting better and longer entertainment from simulation games, RPGs, RTSs, tabletop games, and a growing handful of Indie gems. I plan to feature my favorites and hopefully introduce new players to some excellent titles.
About Me
I have always been a gamer and I have always been a Christian. I grew up watching my father and grandfather play Might & Magic and Railroad Tycoon. I was rocking DOS shareware classics like Commander Keen and Duke Nukem before most of my peers could read and then spent countless hours on the original Sid Meier's Civilization and Sid Meier's Pirates! My interest in theology has been equally strong (although hopefully more influential) in my early years. Both my parents are believing Christians and Briercrest grads, they taught me about the God, Jesus, Sin, and Salvation from the Bible as early on as I can remember. I have distinct memories of becoming a Christian at age 4; being convicted of sin, asking Jesus to forgive me, and making a clear decision to follow him. My faith has always been my own and the simple faith of four year old Greg grew and matured as I encountered new experiences and situations.
In my spare time I gamed. That was my thing. Looking back I may have been slightly autistic with how much gaming I did. Hours upon hours of playing Cosmo, Crystal Caves, Skunny, The Great War, Galactica, Burger Time, Panzer General, Civ 2, Civ 3, The Red Baron, Star Wars Dark Forces II, Age of Empires, Age of Kings, Age of Mythology, Mario Kart 64, Mario 64, GoldenEye 64, Bomberman, WoW, Blitzkrieg, Halo 1,2,3,+4, SimCity 2000, Legends of Zeldas, Empire Earths, on and on the list goes... Even after leaving home and spending 10 years in theological studies gaming has always been my go to pastime.
Now I am a husband and a father. I don't game like I used to because there just isn't time and taking care of adult responsibilities is far more important. I can't binge on an RTS campaign or spend a full evening shooting up my friends, but the games I do still play are excellent in quality.
